THE RULES OF SUCCESS -  in the workplace.

The following rules of success have been taken from the very entertaining book " If it wasn't for the money I wouldn't be doing this" by Jenni Lans. Available from Harper Business published in Australia 1996.

This book is highly recommended by the AUSSIE CAREERS GUIDE at around $16.95 and is an easy to read, and humorous, look at surviving the Australian workplace culture.

These are the ultimate rules of "getting along" and since the major source of problems at work has to do with people, then it's a good idea to ignore these at your peril.

Don't drink to excess - it's hard to be taken seriously when your speech is slured.

Don't wear inappropriate clothes - it looks like you don't care about things.

Don't say bitchy things about anyone, ever.

Don't eat all the biscuits from the biscuit tin.

Don't criticise the company while you are at work.

Don't leave your coffee cup for someone else to wash.

  Greet everyone with "Good morning"

Always ask advice and opinions of others

Never win a fight with the boss - try to lose with dignity.

Never talk about your personal life - whilst at work.

Never pretend to know more than you do.

Trust nobody - until you have observed what they do, not what they say.
