| FILLING IN APPLICATION FORMS.
Application forms must be filled out accurately. If you can get a spare copy of the form to practise on before you send in the actual form, do so. If not, use a photocopy. The copy is good to keep for your records and you can refresh your memory before an interview. When you first pick up an application form read it through a couple of times so you are familiar with the instructions. Things like, use block letters or use only black pen may appear. If you can type up the application then do so, otherwise print clearly. As you start to fill in the form make sure you put the answers in the right spaces. For example, write your surname where indicated, NOT in the space provided for first names. Provide as much detail as space permits. If you have no answer to make on a particular point don't just leave a space (they may think you have overlooked the question). If you have not got an answer or you cannot think of one then write 'not applicable' or N/A in the space. It is a good idea to keep your resume close by so you can use that information on education, work experience interests/hobbies and references. Filling in forms is a bit of an art. Take the trouble to do it properly as people who obtain interviews are those that are neat and organised with their documents. |
